Green River College BAS Software Development graduate Katherine Watkins recently took to LinkedIn to share that she is joining Costco IT as a full-time software engineer.

While completing her bachelor’s degree at Green River, Katherine also received mentoring support from Mentors in Tech and credits mentor Marianne Goldin (Apple) specifically for working with her as a mentor and helping her contribute to an open source project.

Congratulations on your new role, Katherine!

Friday marked the end of my internship with Costco IT. Through my internship I not only learned a lot of new skills, but met amazing people and made new friends. Today I am excited to announce that I am transitioning into a full time role with Costco as a software engineer!

Four years ago this was just a dream. I have overcome a lot of obstacles to get to where I am today. I started as a single mom to 4 kids, looking to improve our lives and find a career I loved. When Covid took hold I was unsure how I’d manage school, work, and distance learning with my kids but I did it! And through my journey there were people and organizations that gave me a helping hand.

There are so many more people who helped me along. Friends, colleagues, mentors, etc. I am so appreciative of everyone who I’ve met during this journey. So to everyone else, THANK YOU! I’m so excited to see where I go from here with Costco!
